Book Published: 11/9/18

Blurb: On the outside, Novak Norwood, the crime king of California, has everything he could possibly need – good looks, money, and friends. He’s satisfied with life, at least that’s what everyone thinks, but it’s a lie. Beneath his fake smile is a pain that will never heal, which Novak thinks he deserves. And then he meets Willow. Willow Walsh is a free spirit, which is what brought her to L.A. Her whole life changes when she meets Novak who becomes her focus, her love. But when Novak’s past literally returns with a vengeance, they have to fight as one to stay together, but will either come out unscathed?

Warning: Sweet, sexy and safe read! Happily ever after guaranteed! This author writes what she likes to read. That means there will be instalove, OTT Heroes, and, brace yourselves, virgin characters at times. If none of those float your boat, you might want to find another book. If they do, you’re in the right place.

May be spoilers:

Red Willow is the 3rd in the Crime Kings series. I do recommend reading in order even though this could be read as a standalone as we’ll see characters from previous books. This story has 16 chapters and 2 epilogues and is about Novak and Willow.

Novak is the Kingpin of California and we see in the prologue why he is the way that he is. He’s head over heels for Willow, but thinks she deserves better. They’ve both been in love with the other since they met 2 years ago. He seen her and fell for her before they even spoke.

They’ve gotten to know each other since he goes to her work a few days a week and they talk. I love that she got up the nerve to ask him on a date. You can feel how much these 2 feel for the other. They are both virgins and Novak has never kissed before, and yes he’s in his 30’s, but with his past, it’s understandable. I loved it.

I love how his men rib him about Willow. They know how he feels about her.

She’s attacked in her home when she comes home and her place is trashed. Novak is pissed. His past has come back and instead of going after him, they are going after Willow. Willow threatens to leave Novak if he doesn’t tell her everything and even though he’s scared of telling her, he does, but he’s not going to let her leave him.

Very surprised, well, I shouldn’t be with this author, but Willow took the revelation of who Novak is and what he did in his past, really well.

There are a few steamy scenes, but not many as this book has a really great storyline and more sex scenes just weren’t needed.

She has to run when Novak’s past comes after her, she’s gone for 4 days when she’s shot after finding out she’s pregnant. She’s shot and saved at the same time. Novak is hurting because he wasn’t able to get to her in time before she’s hurt.

This was such a great story. I loved it. The writing was terrific. No separations once together, besides the 4 days where she was hiding from the bad guy till Novak could find her, no cheating, no ow/om drama Great story.

Epilogue is 5 years, then 12 years out,  they are happily married with twin boys. I have to say that I love seeing the other couples and their families. Great read. Perfect writing. Definitely kept my interest.  I gave it 5 out of 5 stars, cause it was just that good. Thanks for reading. Hope you check it out.
