Published 2016

After what felt like a lifetime alone, Slade Dawson fell in love and married, forsaking his true mate. A century has passed since his wife’s death. Slade has now dedicated himself to his duty as head enforcer for the White River Wolves. Until he catches her scent; the scent of the one truly meant to be his.

Waking up in pain and fear, Gypsy Layne remembers nothing of her past. She doesn’t remember the family she lost, the sister who suffered with her, or the last several months she spent imprisoned by a Colombian drug lord while fighting daily to survive. All she has left now is a feeling of hopelessness.

Will Slade be strong enough to make amends with his past and help the one he was meant to love? As she struggles to remember, will Gypsy be able to overcome the hell she has been through? Will an unforeseen danger that stalks them both, keep them from each other?

Warning: I do want to warn that if you have triggers, the Rare and White River Wolves series are not for you. Rape is a big part of the story line and it’s mentioned in most, if not all of the stories.

I reread this series occasionally. Keeps my attention start to finish.

You definitely want to read these series in the order that they are intended. The author has the order up on her webpage. It’s a continuous storyline with the main characters changing in each.

Slade’s Desire is the 2nd in the White River Wolves series, but it is the 5th in the reading order.

This should be read after Trace’s Temptation. It has 18 chapters and is about Slade and Gypsy.

We know before starting this one that Gypsy was held by Trace’s father and she was beaten repeatedly for months as well as her sister being raped.

Gypsy and her sister have been rescued, but Gypsy has lost her memory.

Slade is a wolf shifter and he realized in the last story that Gypsy is his mate. We also learned in the last story that he was married 100 years ago and lost his wife and baby during childbirth.

Gypsy, think that name matches her completely. Her powers are pretty awesome.

So, I’m not a huge fan of the deceased spouse story as I don’t like the heroine to be second best. I don’t mind reading them if they are shown to be the only. Even with them being mates, I still struggled with them.

Still a great read though. This story was mostly of Gypsy healing and then them dealing with both of their pasts.

Everything moves so fast. Kept my attention from start to finish.

No cheating, ow-deceased wife, om-bad guy, few hours separation, no epilogue as it’s a continuing storyline. Love seeing all the characters.

At the end: We know that Xavier is Janie’s mate-she was rescued from the general a book or 2 back, Angel and Chase have still not mated and they are both hurting, Angel and the Rare team went looking for Storm, Rikki is still unconscious.

Great world building. Next us is Saving Storm.

I gave it 🌟🌟🌟½. Thanks for reading.
