Review: Hooking Him by Aurora Rose Reynolds

Published June 2020

Read and reviewed: Oct. 2020

From New York Times and USA Today bestselling author Aurora Rose Reynolds comes the sizzling final installment to the humorous and heart-filled How to Catch an Alpha series.

Anna McAlister needs a new life. But that doesn’t mean she needs a new man. After leaving her fiancé and Chicago behind, she promises herself no dating until she finds what she’s looking for. But meeting one seriously hot and determined detective has her questioning herself.

Calvin Miller is that detective, and he’s been burned by women in the past. It’s easy for him to sleep alone and focus on his work, but the moment he lays eyes on Anna, he starts imagining sexy nights with her wrapped in his sheets. Maybe it’s time to get back out there.

But just as the attraction between them begins to sizzle, Anna’s past shows up to create trouble. And to make matters worse, a string of murders forces Calvin to juggle his new relationship and his career. His worst fear? That the two are somehow connected.

Can they find love together, or will her past and his duty sink their hopes?

May be spoilers:

Hooking Him is the 3rd in the How to Catch an Alpha series. It has 15 chapters with an epilogue and is about Calvin and Anna.

I do want to say that I do recommend reading the series in order as previous characters show up.

Anna, we briefly met in the 2nd one as she’s Crissie’s new employee at the bakery.

She left her ex because she wasn’t in love with him and wanted to be happy.

They meet when he pulls her and her girls over. Things do not go well for their first meet.

I actually liked the story. He’s not as alpa as some of this author’s heroes, but he’s still pretty great.

They were both all in from the beginning, even though she hesitated for a minute.

Loved the “Golden Girls”! They were so funny.

Loved seeing previous characters.

This was just a story of them getting together and dealing with her past, along with a murderer in town.

Good, fast read. Flows well.

Lots of steam. Neither were virgins.

Very sweet together, I thought.

No cheating, ow/om drama-a couple of blips, no separations after getting together.

Epilogue is 5 years out. They are happily married with a girl and pregnant with a boy.

I gave it 🌟🌟🌟🌟. Have you read it? What did you think?
